“Nothing to it, but to do it!”

Eugena Coleman MS, ACSM, AFAA
Master Trainer

Eugena has almost 10 years of personal training experience, working with persons of various fitness levels. As an athlete herself, she understands what it takes to be physically and mentally active, thereby giving way to her exercise philosophy that consistency is the best policy. Additionally, she has assisted in and has coordinated several research studies regarding exercise and quality of life.

Prior to joining Empower in 2007, Eugena was an Exercise Physiologist and Researcher with the National Institute on Aging in Baltimore, MD on the longest-running scientific study on human aging since 1958. She has also worked at Duke University Medical Center as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, working closely with cardiologists in the clinical setting.

Eugena is certified as a Health Fitness Instructor through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and as a Certified Personal Trainer and Aerobic Instructor through the Aerobic & Fitness Association of America (AFAA). She has served as a testing volunteer and subject for the ACSM’s examination certifications and as a Certification Examiner for AFAA. Additionally, she’s taught the academic and practical fundamentals of personal training to groups actively seeking their personal training certification. Eugena received her B.S. in Exercise & Sport Science from East Carolina University and her M.S. in Physical Education from Old Dominion University.

In addition to training, Eugena enjoys spending time with family and friends, exercising, traveling and relaxing.
