Registered Dietitian / Nutrition Counselor
Monica is a registered dietitian and licensed nutritionist. She has extensive experience formulating evidenced-based nutrition interventions for people of diverse backgrounds, varying health status, and across the lifespan. She is an engaging and inspiring nutrition therapist, educator, and speaker who helps people reach sensible solutions for lifetime wellness. Her expertise in chronic disease management and weight management blends well with her passion for integrating positive eating attitudes and whole foods to achieve mind and body healing.
Monica’s previous work experience includes serving as a clinical dietitian in the hospital setting providing medical nutrition therapy to the acutely and critically ill. She has also worked at an outpatient diabetes center where she taught diabetes self-management training classes and in corporate wellness programs. She can rely on her rich clinical background to assess, counsel, and develop nutrition care plans for individuals, educate and empower groups, and solve clinical problems.
She specializes in helping restore health in people affected with high cholesterol, high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome, digestive disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, and cancer.
Grounded on evidence-based practices and current research, Monica counsels individuals and groups on achieving optimal nutrition for pregnancy, lactation and menopause, sports performance, weight management, chronic disease prevention, and healthy family eating.
Monica earned her bachelor of science degree in Dietetics and Nutrition from Florida International University where she completed the Coordinated Program. She has also received a Certificate in Adult Weight Management Training.
On a personal level, Monica loves to spend time with her husband and their three children especially outdoors hiking through local or distant mountain trails. She enjoys eating good food, traveling, and reading.
