John has worked as a massage therapist in a clinical setting for a few years and has experience with a wide-variety of people. From working with people in a community-care clinic, to offering chair massage at hospitals and local businesses, he enjoys working with people who truly care about their health.

John believes that bodywork is designed to help deconstruct people’s limitations and to provide resources for balance, integrity, and freedom. To do this, John utilizes different assessment protocols to figure out the nuts and bolts of postural dysfunctions and patterns, to help clients become more active in their bodies (and freer in their minds). He further believes that a healthy body is a moving body and it is with this precept that he joined Empower in 2011.

John graduated from the nationally acclaimed Body Therapy Institute in 2008 and has been licensed in North Carolina since 2009. He holds an advanced certification in Medical Massage Therapy and is additionally certified in Pregnancy Massage. His standard modalities include: Orthopedic Sports, Neuromuscular, Fascial Release Technique, Deep Tissue, Active Isolated Stretching, Swedish, and Prenatal. John is deeply interested in understanding the human complex and plans to undertake more intensive studies to achieve this end. His current interests are Myoskeletal Therapy, Touch for Health, and Neuromuscular Reprogramming. He is also a professional member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP).

When there is time left in the day, John drinks in all the poetry and world literature he can. His wife, Kerri Williamson, and her son, Kaleb, are the loves of his life.
